How are you affected by autism?: I am a divorced, single mother of 3. Boy 22, girl 18 and boy, almost 14. Both of my sons are on the spectrum. The oldest is high functioning, the youngest is love functioning but he also was beaten and shaken at age 3 by my USAF ex husband. Very little legal action was taken against that man. My son also suffers from seizures, ODD, and violent outbursts towards me since his father shook him. While he was beating the child, he was screaming that "mommy i s a bitch, whore...etc..." because I was finalizing the divorce. No way would I go back to a man that beat me almost daily for 11 years. In my state, having two kids on the spectrum is impossible. I am forced to stay home. Today...I am waiting to see if the are coming to force me to sign my youngest away. Since I am "too poor to care for him properly...or get him services." I have been denied everything for both boys...how does that make me bad??
